DoneRight, ServiceMagic, Best Contractors, Quality Smith, Contractors.com, Renovation Experts, the list goes on… and on… and on… and on – ok you get the point – there are a GaZillion lead generation providers whom all want to promise the world yet many fail to deliver.
I’ve been involved in the home services space for just about as long as I have been doing Denver SEO work, and that’s about 9 years. During this time I’ve had the opportunity to work first-hand with many of the leading contractor lead services as well as evaluation ROI and other important factors in determining which respective lead service provider drives quality.
Today I am going to talk about DoneRight.com… This is a company who I believe drives value in the fact that they connect home owners with contractors on a 1 to 1 call. This eliminates the need for contractors to track down home owners while giving the contractor a first hand opportunity to set the project estimate.
It’s also a great home owner experience. Instead of having 5 hungry service pros beating their phone up, they get 1 quality service pro at their disposal.
About DoneRight.com
DoneRight.com (Exclusive Leads, High Connect Rate, High Close Rates)
Launched in 2004, Done Right! currently maintains online home improvement professional service directories across the nation. The Little Orange Book™ was first introduced in San Diego in 2005, then Denver, Houston, Dallas/Fort Worth and Chicago were also added in 2007.
PROS: DoneRight! connects Home Improvement PROs and Home Owners with a 1 to 1 exclusive call. The best part of the DoneRight.com system is the simple fact that contractors don’t have to chase down home owners and second, it’s an exclusive lead for your business.
CONS: DoneRight.com is not in all markets – the markets they are in allow only a select number / group of conttractors. There is a wait list in many markets to join the DoneRight! directory.
For a full list of Contractor Lead Service Providers, please check back. I am going to release my ‘full review’ of contractor lead services soon.

The exclusivity is nice for the contractor, but not always good for the homeowner. There are some contractors who charge more than they should or don’t do any type of budget improvements. Getting only 1 quote is never a good way to start any project. The other problem with Done Right is their lack of visibility on the web. Ranked as one of the lowest of all online lead generation services, it’s not going to bring in very many leads for the contractors.
Hi Tim,
Good points except I am going to have to respectfully disagree with both points and here’s why…
1st: Done Right’s business model has been wrapped around their print directory which for a period of time did very well. Since they were purchased by Lending Tree I can only assume their online presence is going to sky rocket. In fact, I have been watching them for a while running regular ranking reports and have noticed a significant increase of local presence.
2: I’ve had a great opportunity to survey home owners who have used companies like Service Magic, Quality Smith, Renovation Experts, Best Contractors, Done Right etc… and have seen unanimous frustrations with the multiple merchant model. Many of these merchants are paying good $$ for the leads therefore they are very aggressive for the simple fact they don’t want to lose $ on the leads. This leads to a very poor home owner experience in the fact that even after they have selected a merchant they still have home improvement contractors pounding their phone long after the job has been completed.
My two cents. Data from real customers.
Searched the google and found your website…I should say i’m incredibly impressed and this data just arrived quite helpful. I will bookmark and join rss feed. realy great publish thanks for sharing
